This course examines the origins of Europe and concept of "Western civilization" until 1648 CE. It includes an exploration of ancient Egypt, Mesopotamia, Greece, and Rome, the rise of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, and the emergence of Medieval Europe through the Renaissance, Protestant Reformation, and discovery of the New World.
