PHSO 1 - Human Physiology (3 units)

This course offers a study of the physiological principles, function, integration and homeostasis of the human body at the cellular, tissue, organ, organ system and organism level: integumentary system, bone, skeletal, smooth and cardiac muscles, nervous system, sensory organs, cardiovascular system, lymphatic and immune systems, respiratory system, urinary system, digestive system, endocrine system, and reproductive system. This course is primarily intended for nursing, allied health, kinesiology, and other health-related majors. Portions of instruction may be offered online; may also be offered fully online. This course provides students with the opportunity to explore topics in Human Physiology beyond the scope of the PHSO 1 and PHSO 2 curriculum. Students complete reading assignments, case studies, laboratory experiments and/or research projects tailored to their individual needs and interests. Students work with a supervising instructor to outline specific learning outcomes, objectives, and project goals for the semester. Portions of instruction may be offered online; may also be offered fully online.
