Dance, Associate in Arts
The Dance Associate in Arts degree program is designed to provide students with a wide variety of dance experience, technique, and theoretical knowledge. The curriculum includes courses in modern, jazz, ballet, ballroom, and ethnic dance along with opportunities to choreograph and perform while growing the student’s appreciation of dance.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the program, students will be able to:
- Identify and apply proper posture, alignment, body organization, vocabulary, and performance quality to a variety of dance techniques.
- Identify and compare the key historical and technical components of dance and their influence on art and society.
- Practice effective interpersonal communication, cooperative relationships, and social interaction within diverse environments to develop and produce dance choreography for public performance.
- Improve physical and social-emotional resilience by using feedback and self-assessment to develop technical skill, movement efficiency, and artistic ability.
