Art History, Associate in Arts

The Associate in Arts in Art History is a comprehensive program that promotes an understanding of art across cultures and geographic boundaries. Students are taught to apply fundamental art and art historical terminology to analyze works, and to develop an appreciation of process, in order to articulate the historical, social, and aesthetic functions of art.

Upon successful completion of the program, students will be able to:

  • Recognize and describe the formal qualities of a work of art.
  • Interpret the formal qualities of works of art in relation to specific social and historical circumstances.
  • Analyze and communicate the influences affecting artists working within diverse cultural contexts.
