ARTG 10 - Introduction to Computers for Graphic Arts (4 units)

This course provides students with essential computer hardware and software skills in the graphic arts field. Students learn about the desktop computer environment, operating systems, and graphic design computer terms and principles. Topics include creating vector artwork and bitmap images with Adobe Illustrator software. Students are introduced to color on the computer, scanning, file formats, and other concepts related to the commercial design industry. ARTG 11 - Introduction to Photoshop (4 units)

This course is an introduction to digital imaging with Adobe Photoshop software, the industry standard for digital imaging, electronic photo retouching, illustration, and web content creation. ARTG 12 - Page Layout and Typography (4 units)

This course introduces students to industry-standard software for page layout and print publishing. Students will learn how to produce quality single- and multi-page documents for print. An emphasis will be placed on the role of page layout software in graphic design and publishing, terminology, and establishing competency in page layout software. ARTG 15 - Graphic Design: Images and Type (4 units)

ARTG 16 - Graphic Arts Production and Pre-Press (4 units)

This course introduces graphic arts production and digital pre-press procedures related to commercial printing and imaging. This is a culminating course for the Graphic Arts program. Students plan and construct a portfolio based on their aptitudes, areas of interest, and market requirements/expectations.
